JWP welcome Michael George and add more experience to their Care Department
JWP Solicitors would like to offer a huge welcome to Michael George who brings a wealth of experience to our Care department team based at our Leeds Office.
Michael has a wealth of experience in Child Care law and he joins us from Ridley and Hall where he was a Partner. Prior to joining Ridley and Hall Michael had his own long-running family law practice in Dewsbury which he ran for almost 14 years before his firm merged with Ridley & Hall on the 1st October 2010.
Michaels experience is vast having previously practised in many aspects of law, including criminal, employment and family before specialising in specialist child care law, acting for children, parents, grandparents and extended family in complex care proceedings in more recent years. Michael deals with Residence, Special Guardianship and Contact Matters as well as Adoption Law and he has an excellent reputation for representing the victims of child abuse.
Michael has previously been honoured for his work in Child Care law having being named as one of the top 3 Family Legal Aid lawyers in the country in the prestigious Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2011.
The judges highlighted the fact that “Michael is praised for his ability to develop a rapport with his young, often distressed, clients. One client wrote: ‘Despite my background which, to be frank, is quite colourful, he has always made me feel important.’
To be short listed for this major national award is a real feather in the cap for him and we are proud to have Michael join our experienced Child Care team at our Leeds office.
