What rights do you have as part of a cohabiting couple in the UK? The answer is, very little, when compared to the rights of a spouse. It could be said that marriage is a tradition that has been gradually going out of fashion. Increasing numbers of couples are choosing to live together long term without ever formalising their relationship status in the eyes of the law. Does it matter, well if things go wrong you could be left with nothing to show from even the most serious long term relationship.
